Let’s walk through Holy Week

I would like to invite you to join us as we walk through holy week together It was a crucial week of Jesus life and ministry and the most important event of the Christian faith.

Palm Sunday 13 April at 8.00am or 10.00am or 4.00pm

In our minds eye, we follow Jesus riding on a donkey through a huge crowd greeting him as King and shouting. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Glory in the highest! Hosanna!

Maundy Thursday 17 April at 7.30pm

We gather around the table to re-enact Jesus Last Supper when he humbly washed his disciples’ feet. This is my body given for you. This cup is the new covenant in my blood which is poured out for you. Then we silently watch, like the disciples on the Mount of Olives.

Good Friday 18 April at 10.00am or 2.00pm

We carry the cross to the front of church and gather at the foot of the cross for our prayers Father forgive them they don’t know what they are doing. Then like the women and St John we wait at the foot of the cross for the final hour and with music and readings imagine ourselves in the scene.

Easter Sunday 20 April at 8.00am or 10.00am or 4.00pm

The most important event in the Christian faith when we celebrate the resurrection and Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene in the garden, to Peter, to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus and to ten of the apostles, where they eat fish together. Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!

Again I want to invite you to walk with us as we journey through Holy Week. Death is defeated, a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open before us.
