My Father is the gardener

I would love to invite you to an open garden on Saturday 20 June from 10.00 – 4.00 pm at Eddington House RG17 0PL.

There is lots to love about this garden. There is a brilliant greenhouse set in a kitchen garden which grows produce for the family. There is a beautiful orchard, a dry garden and unusually an archaeologist's garden, where the growth of the perennials hides the archaeology and as they die back in the winter the archaeology is revealed! It really is a top-quality garden and we will all come away with ideas for our own gardens.

I love the planting season it is so full of hope. For us it starts with the garlic going in on Halloween, then the onions, and the potatoes are planted on Good Friday. May has been exceptionally busy with cauliflower, courgettes, melon, peppers, tomatoes and butternut squash all going in. Our hope is that the polytunnel and the greenhouse will be fully planted by the start of June and the raised beds are close behind.

I love he vision of Revelation 22 of trees bearing fruit every month of the year. The strawberries have already started, followed by the raspberries and then the apples. So from May to January we eat the fruit from our own garden. God provision is bountiful and I love working with him to bring in the harvest.

See you at the open garden
