Remembrance Sunday

I would like to encourage you to join us for Remembrance Sunday.

I was really impressed last year when we walked down to the war memorial after church. It was only 10.30 and as the uniformed organisations marched down to the war memorial the pavements were crowded with well wishers. The British legion had set up a great PA system and there were seats for the veterans. There were so many organisation wanting to lay a wreath that they came up in pairs and it still took quite a long time. The people of Hungerford had turned out in strength to say thank you to the air force, the army and the navy who sacrifice so much to keep peace in our world.

I would strongly encourage you to join us again this year either in St Lawrence’s at 9.30 when we read the names on the war memorial in church or at the war memorial in Bridge Street for the wreath laying and two minutes silence.

I am sure that you like me are immensely grateful for the dedication of our armed forces past and present. So lets demonstrate our gratitude by our actions and have another even bigger turn out again this year.
