Thanks be to God

Harvest Festival is a chance to say “Thank you” to God for the beauty of creation and for another years harvest. I don’t know how you have done in your garden this year but here at the vicarage the garlic and onions, the tomatoes and raspberries and the peppers and apples have all been excellent. Thanks be to God.

Our Harvest Festival this year will be on Sunday 3 October. At all three services we will be collecting for the West Berks Foodbank. Alison and I visited the Foodbank during the school holidays and discovered that they were feeding 600 people each week and only had enough tinned fruit and vegetables for one day! Let’s give generously so that the people of West Berkshire don’t go hungry.

At the 10.00 on Harvest Festival there will be a caterpillar cake competition. The idea is that as many people as possible make a caterpillar cake, George and Sandra will judge which is best and then we all get to eat a piece of cake. I will be making one myself so if you are brave enough you could try a piece!

The 6.00 will be a songs of praise for harvest with six lessons and nine hymns and I will be speaking about Creation, Climate Change and the end of the world!

Please join us for either the 8.00, 10.00 or 6.00 and lets be filled with thanksgiving to God for his generous provision.
