What a Great Christmas!

I would like to say ‘Thank you’ to the people of Hungerford for a wonderful Christmas.

For me it began with the Primary School nativity and then the John of Gaunt Carol Service and the Nursery Nativity. Over the week I met more than 100 children and their parents and grandparents and again it was standing room only and if you weren’t there you missed out (not least on the inn keeper who said ‘Yes, come in’!).

Then we had the Town Carol Service led by the town band where we ran out of service sheets and had to hand out a carol sheet and then half of the congregation had different words. A good time was had by all!

Finally over the 24 hours from Christmas Eve lunchtime to Christmas Day lunch time we had well over 500 people pack into the church for the Crib service, Midnight and the Christmas Day services.

If you include the Christingle on the first Sunday in December and the Christmas Journey activity morning for the children, I think we had 2,031 people come to the special services in church during December or roughly one third of the town.

So a big ‘Thank you’ from me - I have really enjoyed my first Christmas here in Hungerford.
