Cultivating our Wellbeing

For about 25 years our family vision statement has been “for everyone to reach their full potential and to have fun doing so”. So I was encouraged to discover the World Health Organisation says “Mental health is defined as a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises his or her own potential. In effect they are saying “Wellbeing is reaching our full potential” and that is what we are trying to do at church.

The phases of collective trauma response are Impact, Heroic, Disillusionment, Rebuilding and Wiser-Living. However in the covid crisis we have had three lockdowns and so most of us have felt the impact, heroic phase and disillusionment three times over. And each time we have felt a bit less heroic and a little more disillusioned. So what can we do to cultivate our wellbeing?

St Lawrence’s will be offering the Wellbeing Journey to everyone in Hungerford. This is an easily understood course looking at the foundational principles of wellbeing with video input from national experts. It starts on Wed 21 April at 7.30pm on zoom and to register please email Vicar@StLawrencesHungerford.org.uk.

Starting on Monday 10 April we wil also be offering Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. This is a deeper course which is explicitly Christian and will be delivered through our home groups. Again to register please email Vicar@StLawrencesHungerford.org.uk.

I do hope that all of us will be able to access one or the other.
